Marinara sauce is an Italian sauce oriented in Naples. It’s easy to make, and its spiciness and smoky flavour will transform your usual bowl of spaghetti or pizza into something extraordinary. This Marinara Sauce is made using staple ingredients like tomato, onion, garlic and a few other Italian herbs.

Serves: 4

Ingredients:

  • 5 Finely chopped tomatoes
  • 2 finely chopped onions
  • 4 tbsp garlic paste
  • 2 tbsp of tomato puree
  • 2 tbsp garlic paste
  • Oil as per required
  • Salt (preferably sea salt)- ½ tbsp
  • Water as required
  • Sugar- as per taste
  • Prawns washed and cleaned

Ingredients for seasoning:

  • Chilli flakes- 2 tbsp
  • Oregano – 1 tbsp
  • Cumin Powder- 1 tbsp
  • Red chilli powder- ½ tbsp
  • ½ tsp crushed black pepper
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • ½ tsp black salt
  • Water

Preparation:

  • In a clean container, add 2 tbsp of garlic and 2 tbsp of ginger paste
  • Add salt, red chilli powder and black salt
  • Add clean prawns in the container and cover them well in the paste and marinate well
  • Cover it and keep it aside
  • For the marinara masala, add a pan on medium heat
  • Add 2 tbsp of oil, and it is heat
  • Once the oil is heated well, ass garlic paste and chopped onions
  • Saute the onions and garlic till they become translucent
  • Take the pan off the heat
  • Use a hand blender to blend it into a sauce like consistent
  • But this paste back on low flame
  • Add the ingredients under seasoning
  • Mix it well, cover the pan and keep it to cool off
  • In a non-stick pan, place the marinated prawns
  • Cook them until they are crispy texture on the outside but soft and juicy inside
  • Add these prawns into the sauce
  • Saute well on low flame
  • Serve when hot

Tip: Do not burn the onion and garlic while sauteing. It will add a bitter taste to our sauce. You can also garnish the marinara masala prawns with basils.
