Kadai Paneer is a beloved Indian dish that originated in the northern parts of India. It’s a delicious vegetarian dish that features paneer (cottage cheese) cooked in a spicy tomato-based gravy with a blend of aromatic spices.

Ingredients Required:
- 250 grams of cottage cheese
- 3 medium-sized tomatoes (finely chopped)
- 2 medium-sized onions (finely chopped)
- 1 bell pepper (diced)
- 2 green chillies
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- ½ tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp red chilli powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tbsp fresh cream
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnishing
Preparation:
- Heat oil in a heavy-bottomed pan. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add chopped onions and saute until they turn golden brown.
- Add the ginger-garlic paste and saute until the raw smell disappears.
- Next, add the diced tomatoes, green chilies, and cubed capsicum. Cook until the tomatoes turn tender and pulpy.
- Now, sprinkle in salt, red chilli powder, and turmeric powder. Stir well and allow cooking for a few minutes.
- Slice the paneer into cubes and add it to the pan. Gently stir, ensuring all the paneer cubes are nicely coated with the spices.
- Cover the pan and let it simmer for about 10 minutes over a low flame.
- Garnish with fresh coriander and serve
Tip: To enhance the flavour of cottage cheese, try sauteing it before adding it to the mixture.
